Predicting The First 10 AEW World Champions

8. Kenny Omega

AEW Chris Jericho
AEW/James Musselwhite

While Jon Moxley isn't the kind of wrestler who needs championships to stay relevant, it'd be nice to see him enjoy a lengthy AEW World Championship reign. Jericho would have been a stopgap first champion in this scenario. He's a big star with name value, but he's also 48 years old and showed worrying signs of decline when he faced Kenny Omega at Double Or Nothing. He isn't the man to really establish the AEW World Title.

Moxley and Omega are.

The feud started when Mox invaded Double Or Nothing should run into 2020. That doesn't mean constant TV segments every week a la WWE, but coming back to the programme after 'The Best Bout Machine' has atoned for his pitched All Out loss. This is the company where "wins and losses matter," remember. Omega must be rebuilt after his first fall to Moxley, with wins over the likes of Hangman Page, Cody, and others bringing him back into the title picture.

A cathartic, series-tying victory over Moxley gives the ace his first run with the big shiny belt. More importantly, it sets the duo up for a rubber match (much) later down the line.
