7. Eddie Kingston
No one can out-wrestle Danielson, but Eddie Kingston can certainly outfight him.
Perhaps AEW’s greatest strength is its ability to keep multiple stories bubbling away over a long time, and they’ve continued to tease the festering antipathy between the Mad King and the American Dragon (the promotional possibilities alone make this worthwhile).
They’ve locked horns once and Danielson won by squeezing the breath out of his rival, but we know that Kingston gets up no matter how many times you knock him down. It’s also no exaggeration to say that Eddie is one of the most beloved figures in the company - we’ve already seen him turn Punk temporarily heel during their feud, and he could do the same here.
Danielson is fantastic at putting people over - witness his WrestleMania match against Kofi Kingston - and he’d be a great foil for Eddie Kingston, one of modern wrestling’s great fairy stories. The guy paid his dues and then some in his rise through the indies. Even if it wasn’t a long run, no one could possibly begrudge him a stint with the belt. Give the people what they want.
