Obviously this one’s speculative to the point of contention. MJF no-showed a meet and greet on Saturday, and while he did work the PPV as planned, the future is unclear. But for the purposes of this list, we’re going to assume Friedman and TK sort things out, and/or we’ve just been worked like a big bunch of marks.
Because MJF absolutely should become AEW World Champion, and should do it in the most heelish manner imaginable. Cheating Eddie Kingston out of the belt he’s worked so hard to obtain, the cocky, Burberry-clad upstart would reinforce his claim that he’s the devil himself.
MJF might just be the MVP of AEW. His mic work is unsurpassed, his character has genuine depth, and his wrestling is fantastic. He’s really yet to put a foot wrong in the company, and has proven repeatedly of late that you can build a story around him with no concern (other than the current situation, obviously).
What’s more, if MJF is exploring his options - as he has every right to do - placing him front and centre might just sway him towards re-signing. And once he’s squeezed every ounce of vitriol out of his title run…
