No, your eyes do not deceive you for the 'Scottish Psychopath' will ultimately be regaining ahead of WrestleMania.

While there's no doubt that The Miz winning the WWE Championship could reinvigorate him as a character (and give the WWE Title picture something of a much-needed dynamic shift), the more likely option is that he will only end up serving as a placeholder with a short reign to boot.

Losing the WWE Championship with WrestleMania on the horizon may not do McIntyre any favours, but it feels like it's going to happen because it would be meaningless to have The Miz obtain the briefcase otherwise.

However, winning it back decisively in a rematch - be it on Raw or the Elimination Chamber PPV (or whatever PPV event makes its presence felt in February) - would certainly re-establish him as a dominant threat for whoever dares face him on the Grandest Stage of Them All. Heck, make it a squash match and they could really make lemons out of lemonade.
