Predicting The Next 5 WWE UK Champions

5. Pete Dunne

Whilst it is never wise to refer to something in professional wrestling as 'inevitable', I'm going to do it: it is inevitable that Pete Dunne will win the WWE UK Championship sooner rather than later. Dunne has been the focus of the UK contingent since the inaugural tournament was announced. He was the clear favourite to win that tournament, and in truth the only reason he didn't may well have been a desire to have a babyface end on top.

Dunne vs. Bate is going to be a cracker of a match, but the 'Bruiserweight' must be the favourite going into the bout. WWE do seem rather keen on the current PROGRESS World Champion, and he will make a great heel title-holder for the respected UK stars to bounce off.

He is also light years ahead of the rest when it comes to commitment to character. The constant smug look of disdain on his face is a real throwback, and it will be a major surprise if the man from Birmingham doesn't leave Chicago with another championship belt.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
