The purported Ace of NXT, Bron Breakker has been one of the brand's lead acts since its September 2021 makeover, now in his second reign with its main championship. Now months deep into his run, it feels as if Breakker is nearing the end of his reign, but it may not be as soon as it currently seems.

Predicted next champion: Carmelo Hayes.

Though he already carries himself like a champion, Grayson Waller likely isn't defeating Bron Breakker for the NXT Championship at the 10 January New Year's Evil special. He's been booked far too strongly ahead of the bout and, as WWE lore tells us, he'll run out of momentum points by the time of the match itself.

Breakker should remain the champion heading into WrestleMania weekend. Despite not being a top draw quite yet, which is perhaps why WWE restrapped him on the post-'Mania Raw rather than at Stand And Deliver, a marquee bout ahead of WrestleMania 39 vs. Carmelo Hayes would serve as the sort of headline bill suited to a 'Mania week special.

Hayes has proven himself as a career-defining NXT North American Champion and is a trusted hand to carry NXT on his back. He's already begun to target the NXT Championship ahead of Breakker vs. Waller; his coronation is now a question of when, not if.
