Predicting The Next Holder Of Every Active WWE Championship

2. WWE Universal Championship

Currently held by: Roman Reigns.

Professional wrestling, WWE even moreso, has never reached the buzz it did in the late nineties. Roman Reigns' Head of the Table arc has, however, acted as a call back to a time when the headliners were true megastars. That's not to say he's on the same level as a 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin or a Rock during the Attitude Era, but the Tribal Chief truly is the face of the sports entertainment giant as the Undisputed Universal Champion.

Predicted next champion: Cody Rhodes.

Roman Reigns' time on top of WWE is expected to expire at WrestleMania 39, with him dropping the WWE and Universal Championships. The championships should be split either at or before 'Mania weekend. If WWE is insistent on maintaining the brand split - not that they've always kept this intact mind - then a World Champion per brand is necessary.

As far as the Universal Championship is concerned, Cody Rhodes must dethrone Reigns.

There's a significantly important storyline to be told with the Rhodes son vying for the championship his father never held; the WWE Championship. For him to first become a WWE World Champion through the Universal Championship lays the tale for at least another two years worth of storytelling for who, really, is going to become the face of WWE once Reigns either leaves entirely or becomes a part-timer.
