Predicting WrestleMania 35 Matches (One Year Out)
6. Seth Rollins Vs. Dean Ambrose (Intercontinental Title)
Another Shield Triple Threat could work for WrestleMania, but it'd leave a lot of spare parts in the main event scene. Such a bout would demand a top level title. Thus, major Raw players like Braun Strowman would be left twiddling their thumbs, or worse, partaking in pointless midcard banter matches ('sup, Nicholas?).
Injured last December, Dean Ambrose isn't expected to return until late summer. This would give WWE up to seven months to build towards a potential singles clash with Seth Rollins at 'Mania, though their combined chemistry and history means they wouldn't have a lot of work to do.
All signs point towards 'The Architect' enjoying a long, prosperous Intercontinental Title reign. He has been Raw's in-ring MVP in 2018, and if he continues on his current trajectory, he'll be a clear 'Superstar Of The Year' contender. It'd be easy to twist this into an Ambrose heel turn, with 'The Lunatic Fringe' jealous of the plaudits being thrown at his former ally, leading to him reverting to the villainous character that made him so compelling pre-Shield split.
This is a match we've seen countless times before, but never with Ambrose as the villain. This alone guarantees intrigue.
