Outside of a Rated RKO reunion/feud re-ignition and Big Dog stare-down, the return of The Rated R Superstar during the 2020 Royal Rumble offered up a tiny taste of what another Phenomenal altercation could look like later down the road. By the time we get to the weekend of April 3-4, we may have just reached that aforementioned stop on Edge's comeback journey.

As just about everyone is aware of by now, AJ Styles could realistically get a captivating match out of Rick Boogs' guitar. But The Phenomenal One hasn't ever had a match that has undoubtedly left fans walking out of The Show of Shows feeling as though they've seen the "best" of the former WWE Champion. His battles against Shane McMahon and Shinsuke Nakamura were good-if-not-great. His Boneyard battle against The Deadman was memorable but depressingly devoid of a live fan reaction. And even last year, much of the attention was on his behemoth buddy Omos.

Having Styles pick a fight with Raw's newest legendary Draft pick makes all the sense in the world then. It would give Edge the chance to make a genuine dream match of his come true on a grand scale. Doing the same for Styles, no doubt. And the two have a little bit of simmering beef anyway in the form of the returning Ultimate Opportunist pulverising AJ's shoulder during his crowd-pleasing comeback two years earlier.

Cue Styles claiming that Edge's return has stolen the spotlight from folks who have been out there every night busting their *ss in the decade he was gone, and Edge demanding his rival bring his A-game in order to prove who really is the ace of Monday nights.
