Rampage Review: 6 Ups & 5 Downs

2. The Dialogue Is Awful

Nobody goes into a film like this expecting Academy Award-calibre writing, but even then, some of it here is groan-inducingly bad.

A lot of the attempts at comedy one-liners fall cringe-inducingly flat, especially in an opening sequence where we're introduced to The Rock's co-workers, most of who quickly disappear out of the movie with little explanation.

Though there are genuine laughs to be had, you'll have to suffer through some woefully bad lines to get there, and it doesn't help that so much of the awful writing is acted with a totally straight-face. With an added wink, it surely wouldn't be quite so painful to sit through.
