The return of Johnny Gargano to WWE is a move that felt impossible just two months ago.

Gargano let his contract expire late last year and said farewell to NXT as he focused on becoming a new father. Speculation ran wild that he would eventually end up in AEW. After all, an undersized guy like himself couldn’t succeed in Vince McMahon’s Land of Giants.

But then Vince was ousted, Triple H rose to power, and suddenly what looked impossible became very possible.

Johnny Wrestling’s return to WWE has seen him paired up with Kevin Owens battling Alpha Academy, with Gargano also confronting former stablemate Austin Theory. That budding rivalry has some real potential to put Johnny into a higher-profile spot on the roster.

Adding Gargano to the mix under the current regime is a clear win for both WWE and Johnny himself. It’s barely been a month, but it’s fair to expect good things on the horizon.
