John Cena’s 11 WWE SummerSlam Matches From Worst To Best

2. 2014 Vs. Brock Lesnar

It might be controversial to chart this match so highly because it wasn't a technical masterpiece or an intricately woven showcase of psychology. This match between Brock Lesnar and John Cena for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship was as one-sided of a beatdown as they come, and that's what made it so entertaining.

The two locked up in Lesnar's first match back with WWE at Extreme Rules in 2012. It was a particularly violent affair that saw John Cena come out on top. A couple of years and a broken WrestleMania streak later and Lesnar was looking as strong as ever.

Going into this, I wondered how they could top their previous match.

They topped the previous match with sixteen German suplexes. The Germans were preceded by an opening minute F5, which set the tone for the rest of the match. Cena would have a few moments to shine here and there, but it was all very brief. Lesnar won with an F5 at around 17 minutes.

Once again, this was not a technical masterpiece, but it was a performance that shocked and amazed. Lesnar really established his dominance with this unmerciful assault of John Cena at SummerSlam 2014.
