By 2001, Edge already was a multi-time tag team champion and former Intercontinental Champion, but he was not seriously viewed as a singles threat, which is crazy when you consider how his career went over the next decade.

In June 2001, Edge won the King of the Ring tournament, which he followed up by winning the Intercontinental Championship three times and the United States Championship in a five-month period. Edge remained a featured superstar in WWF/E for the course of his entire career, finally winning the first Money in the Bank ladder match in 2005 and cashing in to win his first world title in 2006.

By the time his career was done in 2011, Edge was an 11-time world champion, five-time IC champ, and 14-time tag team champion. But his 2001 King of the Ring win was a huge singles accolade that helped spur a lot of his individual success.
