Ranking All 20 WWE September PPVs – From Worst To Best
9. Night Of Champions 2014
Last years Night of Champions was made a big deal because it was one of the rare wrestling appearances for Brock Lesnar. With the initial six-month WWE Network subscriptions expiring, the company had to pull out all the big guns to get people to renew. Lesnars match with Cena wasnt as one-sided as the Summerslam match, so it was more competitive but a tad less entertaining. The shmozz finish with Seth Rollins interfering hurt the match a little, but it set the scene for Rollins to be the top heel in the company in the absence of the champion. The Randy Orton vs. Chris Jericho match, although a tad devoid of heat, was one of the best wrestling matches of the night, with a fantastic finish of Orton hitting the RKO on Jericho who was coming off the top rope. The show also featured an excellent segment where Rollins was going to accept a forfeit victory against Roman Reigns, who suffered a hernia earlier in the week, only for Dean Ambrose to return from a month hiatus (he was filming 12 Rounds) and re-ignite his feud with Rollins. There were definitely some questionable booking decisions on the show, however, like having The Miz and AJ Lee win the Intercontinental and Divas titles respectively from Dolph Ziggler and Paige only a month after losing those belts to them at Summerslam. It made even less sense for the Intercontinental Title because Ziggler just won it back the night after the show on Raw.
