Ranking All 20 WWE September PPVs – From Worst To Best

7. Unforgiven 2001

Right as the WWF was in full swing with the WCW/ECW InVasion, the United States of America just experienced the worst attack on home soil ever. Kurt Angle as the top babyface was going for the WWF Championship in his hometown of Pittsburgh, PA. It was a perfect storm that had horrible circumstances behind it, but it was the right move to have Angle end Steve Austin€™s five-month reign as WWF Champion. The match was great, although a step below their fantastic Summerslam match, but the ending was much more feel-good, with Angle€™s friends and family celebrating with him in the middle of the ring. The show also began to push Christian into a featured role, as he recently turned heel on Edge and joined the Alliance. At Unforgiven, he defeated Edge to win the Intercontinental Championship for the first time. Unforgiven 2001 also featured one of the most underrated matches of all time, as Rob Van Dam defeated Chris Jericho in a fantastic match of the year candidate for the Hardcore title.
