Ranking All 20 WWE September PPVs – From Worst To Best
12. Night Of Champions 2011
How do you follow up one of the hottest storylines of the summer involving the most talked-about wrestler in years? By having him lose to a part-time wrestler who is also the Chief Operating Officer of the company. The whole CM Punk leaving WWE storyline was completely muddled by the creative team shoe-horning a storyline where Triple H took over power from Vince McMahon. Somehow, Kevin Nash was involved, then written out (because the creative team probably realized that Nash couldnt have a good match anymore at his age), and replaced by Triple H, who tried to play the babyface against Punk even though Punk was unanimously cheered. And by losing, Punks momentum had significantly faded. Before walking out of the WWE in early 2014, Punk made a point to let Triple H know that Hunter undercut his momentum in 2011, and judging by how Night of Champions went, who could blame him for thinking that? Elsewhere, John Cena won the WWE Championship (again), and Mark Henry won his first World Title (the ECW title doesnt count). The fans cheered Henry after the match and he (rightly) admonished them for never having his back before.
