WrestleManias in the mid-2000s benefited from having two men on the roster who were capable of producing outstanding matches almost at will: Shawn Michaels and Kurt Angle.

And at WrestleMania 21, they faced off against each other in a classic, show-stealing bout that solidified Angle’s standing as a wrestling machine and cemented Michaels as “Mr. WrestleMania.” If you’ve never seen this match, go check it out.

While you’re at it, the first-ever Money in the Bank ladder match took place at WM 21, and it pretty much set the bar at a level that’s been hard to reach since. Mania that year also featured the star-making moment for Batista, who had won the Royal Rumble that year and turned on Triple H, challenging his Evolution cohort for the world title and defeating him in the main event.

Oh, and John Cena won his first of 16 world titles at WrestleMania 21, just in case you wanted to pinpoint his first taste of the top of the roster.
