28. WrestleMania 2000

Heading into 2000, WWF was firing on all cylinders. The company had some of the best talent in the world, hot angles, and had essentially choked out its chief rival, WCW, which would be out of business in a little more than a year.

But somehow, WrestleMania 2000 was a massive disappointment.

Even with a triangle ladder match between Edge & Christian, the Hardy Boyz and Dudleys, WM 2000 left a lot to be desired in the ring. The Radicalz versus Too Cool & Chyna fell short, Terri versus Kat was god-awful, Head Cheese versus T&A was abysmal, and the hardcore battle royal was 15 minutes of gimmicked spots.

The main event, a fatal four-way between The Rock, Triple H, Big Show and Mick Foley, went on forever and just wasn’t that good. Foley had actually had his retirement match a month earlier, but was reinstated for this one match, and Big Show was eliminated in less than five minutes.

It’s a shame that WWF couldn’t pull the trigger on this Mania, but better times were ahead.
