It was said that WrestleMania was robbed of Bryan's talents at 32 and 33 in the intro to this piece. Another thing everyone had stolen from them (including Daniel) was a sterling Intercontinental Title reign in 2015. Once Bryan pulled down the strap in Santa Clara, California, it seemed certain that he'd fly the IC flag for months to come.

A similar thing was happening at the same time with the United States Title and John Cena. This may have led to a Bryan vs. Cena 'Champion vs. Champion' clash, and that's something that would have helped SummerSlam greatly.

It was never meant to be, but at least the 'Mania 31 Ladder opener was memorable.

Bryan, facing then-champ Bad News Barrett, Dolph Ziggler, Dean Ambrose, R-Truth, Stardust and Luke Harper, was the best choice to win and his smile set the tone for the rest of the show. Undoubtedly one of the best WrestleMania openers ever, this one also gave Bryan the distinction of becoming a Grand Slam Champion in WWE.
