By 2008, Randy Orton had already established himself as a world championship caliber competitor in WWE, and having a stable all to himself only helped his cause.

Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase struggled to find their footing on their own until linking up with Orton in the final few weeks of the year. It actually took Orton punting DiBiase in the head to convince the former Team Priceless that they needed Orton as their mentor in order to succeed, and after booting Manu and Sim Snuka from the group at the onset of 2009, The Legacy was officially born.

As multi-generational stars, the three of them had tremendous chemistry together. Orton elevated Rhodes and DiBiase to new heights and helped them score wins over the likes of John Cena, Shane McMahon, and D-Generation X.

The Legacy ran rampant on Raw throughout 2009 before starting to tease tension at the beginning of 2010. After Rhodes and DiBiase inadvertently cost Orton the WWE Championship multiple times, Orton finally deemed enough was enough and cemented his split from the faction shortly before WrestleMania 26.

Orton went on to become one of the biggest babyfaces WWE had seen in years, while Rhodes carved out their own path toward singles stardom by winning the Intercontinental Championship twice. Unfortunately, DiBiase never lived up to his full potential before leaving WWE in 2013.
