Ranking Edge's WWE SummerSlam Matches From Worst To Best
7. vs Chris Jericho vs Batista (2004)
The three men in this match can boast a bevvy of world titles, though only Jericho had reached that peak at this point, and it shows. This is a perfectly fine, by the numbers Triple Threat match for Edge’s Intercontinental Title that never really gets going, and while it’s over pretty quickly, it doesn’t exactly leave you pining for more.
Edge finds himself in a weird limbo period of his career here. The office is clearly behind him, but he’s yet to find his niche. He’s still using his old (controversial opinion: way better) theme, and isn’t the ultimate opportunist, nor the Rated R superstar, nor the bug-eyed intensity machine. He’s just a blonde dude from Toronto, and the hometown fans don’t care too much about him.
As normal, much of the match sees one competitor thrown from the ring while the others go at it. The more experienced Y2J shepherds the others through most of the bout and has the fans behind him in a big way.
Edge had proven his charisma prior to this but isn’t allowed to display much of it here. Luckily, that would soon change in the next couple of years.
