Ranking Every AEW World Championship Match From Worst To Best

3. Chris Jericho Vs. Cody (Full Gear 2019)

In pro wrestling, a layered match can only truly be executed by two kingpins of the squared circle, meaning Chris Jericho and Cody's Full Gear 2019 contest was a triumph.

Starting off boiling hot, then taking the pot down to a simmering temperature for the middle portion, and then finishing with the water steaming out, 'Le Champion' vs. 'The American Nightmare' was everything you could have asked for from a World Championship match.

It certainly helped that you just knew the Rhodes brother was leaving as champion. After all, the executive vice president had announced he would never challenge for the AEW World Championship again should he lose to Jericho. That's a huge promise to keep in the first year of your company - props to both Cody and AEW as a whole for, so far, sticking by their word.

Then, you add in that cut above Cody's eye, and MJF throwing the towel in on behalf of Cody before, unsurprisingly, turning his back on 'The Prince of Pro Wrestling' post-match, and you have in front of yourself something truly magnificent.

Keeping that cut of Cody's in mind, the Liontamer he was trapped in to finish the match was the icing on the cake in terms of match conclusions, if only that icing were blood, and the cake was Cody's face.
