Ranking Every AEW World Championship Match From Worst To Best
2. Jon Moxley Vs. Eddie Kingston (Full Gear 2020)
"Eddie Kingston can't possibly lose to Jon Moxley", many cried out in unison when the pair clashed again at the second Full Gear pay-per-view.
He did, though.
'The War King' failed in his eighteen-year mission, but he did so in such beautiful fashion that it almost makes it even better to have him lose in two championship outings in his AEW debut year, three if you include his TNT Title debut.
Simply put, you won't see anything quite as raw as this. The two former indie darlings tore each other a new one in their "I Quit" outing, a stipulation that fit the situation to a tee. Kingston literally used rubbing alcohol and barbed wire on the defending champion, two things that go horribly wrong when paired with an open wound, and yet, Mox wasn't backing down. Yet again, he had to resort to a Bulldog Choke to force Eddie to quit the match, and even then, he only quit because the submission was aided by a strand of wire.
You won't be seeing any five stars thrown this way from your uncle Dave, but in terms of storytelling, Kingston and Moxley take it home. A huge step up from their initial Dynamite contest, AEW knew exactly what they were doing when placing the former CHIKARA Grand Champion in a pay-per-view main event.
