Ranking Every AEW World Championship Match From Worst To Best
9. Jon Moxley Vs. Darby Allin (Dynamite #44)
In many ways, Jon Moxley and Darby Allin are vastly similar to one another. It's what made their AEW World Championship clash on the 5 August Dynamite so unique - Allin was able to channel Jon's aggression within himself by countering the champion's brawling offence with his own speed and agility.
The current - at the time of writing - TNT Champion chucked himself around the ring like it was nothing. Even though 'The Purveyor of Violence' found ways to ground one of the feistiest challengers he's come across, there was never any way to keep the former EVOLVE star down for good.
Had the match not been marred by the interference of MJF, then Moxley vs. Allin would have been a tad higher on this ranking.
In hindsight, 'The Salt of the Earth's' interference set up the All Out main event perfectly, but his involvement did hinder proceedings for a bit. By insinuating that MJF would rather face Darby over Moxley made Allin look weak in comparison.
It's worth noting that even after MJF's run-in, it still took a sleeper hold, a Gotch-style piledriver, and a Paradigm Shift to put Darby down, so he didn't leave looking entirely harmed by the interference, but the point still stands.
