2. The Sandman

Of course, Taz isn’t the only man to have written his name into the record books of ECW. With five reigns as world champion under his belt, the Sandman can claim to have won the company’s top title more than any other wrestler in history.

You might have had a hunch that this was the case, considering how many times his name has already appeared over the course of this list. To summarise some more key callouts from the Sandman’s championship resumé, his longest reign lasted 196 days and featured 23 defences along the way, while he also had the most enduring career of all former ECW champions.

Sandman won his maiden world title as early as November 1992, with his final triumph arriving almost a decade later in January 2001.

For the longevity he displayed as well as his consistency throughout, it’s no great surprise that the Sandman remains one of the most synonymous names with ECW, and indeed the ECW Championship.
