Prior to 2016, Shane McMahon served as the Raw general manager for three weeks in November 2008 following the abrupt dismissal of Mike Adamle. Eventually, he appointed his sister Stephanie to the role and departed programming until resurfacing the following year to feud with Randy Orton.

Upon his highly anticipated return to the organization earlier this year, he wanted nothing more than to run Raw so he could fix all the damage that had been done by The Authority. He was promised the position by his father Vince as long as he could beat The Undertaker at WrestleMania 32. Despite falling short at The Show of Shows, Vince decided to try him out as GM on the post-WrestleMania Raw to see how he would fare.

As it turned out, Shane was a riveting success and well-received by the WWE Universe. He signed new superstars (in storyline), created fresh match-ups, and offered everyone an equal opportunity. Due to "overwhelming social media support" (WWE's words, not mine), Shane was brought back the following week and has been running Raw ever since.

He currently shares power with Stephanie, but they've made for a decent duo thus far, not taking up too much TV time and actually adding to the show in small doses. WWE's 'New Era' is already off to a strong start with Shane at the forefront.
