Ranking Every Goldberg Match In WWE Since His 2016 Return
2. Vs. Dolph Ziggler: SummerSlam 2019
When Goldberg returned to WWE, and following his feud with Brock Lesnar, this was the exact version of the WCW standout fans wanted.
Goldberg never needed to be in a title match, let alone win two Universal Championships. He should never have been chosen to defeat some of WWE’s rising stars in The Fiend and Kevin Owens. All he needed to do was have matches exactly like this with Dolph Ziggler. A quick Spear and Jackhammer lead to a brief squash match, and a quick exit for Goldberg. This was followed by two back to back occasions of Goldberg returning to the ring to deliver more signature offense.
Credit to Dolph Ziggler for proving why he is one of the best sellers in WWE history. Not only did he make the two moves he received during the match look deadly, but his post-match promo was exactly what fans needed to want Goldberg to keep coming back. At SummerSlam 2019, Goldberg looked his absolute best, harkening back to what made him a fan favorites in WCW.
