Ranking Every Hell In A Cell Match In WWE History - From Worst To Best
1. The Undertaker Vs. Shawn Michaels
After plenty of deliberation, in the end I had to go with the very first-ever Hell in a Cell match as the greatest in the contest’s history.
Badd Blood: In Your House was the place, Oct. 5, 1997 the date, as the Undertaker and Shawn Michaels went toe-to-toe in a match that still to this day stands the test of time.
It remains one of just a handful of WWE matches to have been awarded a five-star rating, which is just about the closest thing we have to an objective gauge of quality. The showdown itself featured some excellent action thanks to the participants’ abundant chemistry, the added excitement of being a step into totally uncharted territory and of course the awesome drama of Kane’s eagerly-awaited WWE debut.
Truth be told, in the end I could have gone with any one of the top three as the greatest Cell match of all time. If you disagree at all with the final rankings though, do feel free to comment below and let me know of any changes you’d make—just don’t try to tell me that top spot should have been saved for anything not involving the Undertaker!
