Ranking Every Hell In A Cell Match In WWE History - From Worst To Best

29. Mark Henry Vs. Randy Orton

Though billed as a Hell in a Cell match, Mark Henry vs. Randy Orton from the eponymous 2011 PPV was really just your standard singles match that just so happened to be surrounded by some elaborate mesh fencing.

Granted it probably didn’t help the aesthetic that the match went on so early in the show, but that still doesn’t account for the seemingly-redundant use of the Cell. They even lifted the structure straight after the contest to play out the post-match angle (a chair-wielding Orton chasing the victorious Henry back up the entrance ramp), which again begs the question as to why we needed to see this stipulation incorporated at all.

Oh yeah, that’s right; because it was October and the curse of the gimmick-themed PPV calendar demanded some kind of Hell in a Cell match—irrespective of whether or not the story really needed it.
