Full Gear 2021 was a remarkable night for All Elite Wrestling.

On an evening that also boasted Darby Allin and MJF threatening to steal the show, Bryan Danielson vs. Miro, and Kenny Omega finally being toppled by 'Hangman' Adam Page, there was also this.

This absolutely exceptional fight between two blokes who clearly did not like one another.

And within a few seconds, fans knew that they were in for a potential Fight of the Year contender as Eddie Kingston decked CM Punk with a vicious Uraken before the bell had even rung.

In case Punk and those watching on needed a reminder, 'The Best in the World' wasn't in a match here.

He was in a brawl for his life.

Ugly, uncompromising thumps, knees, and kicks would follow. As would a wound-up crimson-masked Punk and Kingston both defiantly and rather comically flipping the bird as they repeatedly unleashed waves of unfiltered fists.

This wasn't about stars, titles, or glory. This was about two arrogant and cocky anti-heroes beating the crap out of the person they'd absolutely detested for years. And while both men very much achieved that brutal goal, it was Punk who came away with the victory as a GTS brought their eleven-minute sprint of mayhem to an end.
