Ranking Every MVP Of Every Major Wrestling Company
8. IMPACT! Wrestling: Tessa Blanchard
"Hard To Kill," indeed; IMPACT! Wrestling is beyond controversy.
If WWE survives scandal as an NYSE-listed international empire synonymous with wrestling, a grim race row isn't going to blow the head off wrestling's funniest and most inexplicable zombie promotion.
Astonishingly, IMPACT! isn't too dissimilar to WWE; where WWE survives and thrives through its historical brand value and intelligent business infrastructure, IMPACT! wheezes by through conning companies into financing a promotion that, whatever you may think of it, *shakes head rather violently from side to side* never drew a dime.
Sami Callihan is effective in a role that makes no difference. RVD's banter midlife crisis has at least hoisted IMPACT! into the MP4/GIF-sphere. There is talent elsewhere on the roster, that talent is often booked well, but there is talent everywhere, which leaves Tessa Blanchard as the MVP. She is a terrific and convincing performer, a fact brought into focus by her great performances and the dire scenes in AEW and on WWE's main roster. But she's only an MVP in the sense that her exit from the promotion would harm it more than her presence elevates it.
This shouldn't prove a problem, not that literally every problem ever hasn't stopped IMPACT! yet; she is what is known in the industry as a "sh*t disturber," and no other promotion will touch her.
