Triple H vs. Chris Jericho - Wrestlemania 18

By the beginning of 2002, he made his glorious return, to one of the best receptions anyone has received probably ever. Ready to compete again, his first match back was the 2002 Royal Rumble, which he won by last eliminating Kurt Angle, giving him a title match at Wrestlemania. His opponent was Chris Jericho, who was had just become the first Undisputed Champion in wrestling history at the end of 2001. Jericho also happened to be the man who Triple H was facing the night that he suffered the quad injury, and (within the storyline) was blamed for aggravating the injury even further. Sadly, that didn't seem to be enough of a build-up going into the match, so it was decided to introduce Triple H's wife Stephanie McMahon into the mix. Stephanie didn't like Triple H's new found popularity and attitude, and so after a fake pregnancy, a fake doctor and a fake running over of a dog, Stephanie would align herself with Jericho, and was in his corner during the Wrestlemania match. Jericho would focus his attack on the vulnerable left leg of Triple H for the majority of the match, with even Stephanie getting in a couple of shots at it. Triple H withstood all of the punishment however, retaliating with a Pedigree for both Stephanie & Jericho, allowing him to pick up the victory and become the new Undisputed Champion. It was a good match, and it made sense that Jericho would target Hunter's leg, but Jericho doesn't suit being the dominant force for the match, and seems more comfortable using speed and counters. It also doesn't help that he ended up looking like the third wheel in the story between Triple H & Stephanie, even though he was the Undisputed Champion. Triple H's spell as both a face and as champion didn't last much longer though, and as a result he has the shortest title reign for a Royal Rumble winner ever.
