Batista vs. Triple H - Wrestlemania 21
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xzyj31_wrestlemania-21-batista-vs-triple-h-world-heavyweight-championship_sport Back when the fans actually liked Batista, his popularity began to become apparent while he was still a member of Evolution, despite them being a faction of heels. Randy Orton was removed from the group in the summer of 2004, leaving just Batista, Ric Flair & Triple H, the World Heavyweight Champion. Both Ric Flair & Batista entered the 2005 Royal Rumble match, with Batista winning the match by eliminating John Cena. Well, sort of, anyway. At first they actually eliminated each other by accident, causing all sorts of chaos. Vince McMahon was so angry with the botched finished that he literally tore muscles. The match was restarted (with just Batista & Cena, not all 30 entrants thankfully) and Batista won outright, giving him a Wrestlemania main event spot. Batista had the choice to face WWE Champion JBL, or his mentor Triple H. With Batista's rise apparent, Triple H tried to convince him to challenge JBL, but the tensions between the two stable members meant a match at Wrestlemania was inevitable. Wrestlemania 21 was a watershed moment in WWE, as it was the event in which they were passing the torch to its next two big stars - John Cena & Batista. Cena became WWE Champion for the first time by defeating JBL, and Batista became the World Champion for the first time by beating Triple H. Their match was standard main event fare really, with each man having spells of control, before the whole thing escalated into a brawl. Triple H started using underhand tactics as the match played out, including a little help from Naitch at ringside, but Batista's power proved to be the deciding factor. Dave would hit Triple H with a Batista Bomb for the victory. This match (and John Cena's) might have been overshadowed by better matches on the card, but have a lasting historical significance that's still in effect today.
