Yokozuna vs. Bret Hart - Wrestlemania 9

The premise to the match was based on Yokozuna's seemingly unstoppable path of destruction, as he was (and still is) the heaviest person to perform in the WWE. He had only debuted in the WWE in October of 1993, but seemed to be heading directly for the top. Yokozuna won the Royal Rumble match, and by the time he reached Wrestlemania, he remained undefeated. The intrigue of the match was based on Bret's technical ability, and whether or not it was enough to stop his challenger; and there was also doubt as to whether or not it was physically possible to apply the Sharpshooter on Yokozuna. As for the match itself, it turned out to be relatively short for a Wrestlemania main event - coming in at 08:55 - and was quite simple, but that's all it really needed to be. Yokozuna was dominant, but Bret used his speed and intelligence; and ultimately managed to apply the Sharpshooter, but was pinned after Mr. Fuji blinded him by throwing the ceremonial salt in his eyes. It would have made more sense for Yokozuna to have won cleanly, but they probably wanted to protect Bret a little. Of course the match will probably be best remembered for what happened afterwards - because when Hulk Hogan came to Bret's aid after the match, he somehow received an impromptu title match, just because, you know, it's Hulk Hogan. Needless to say, Hogan won the title, overshadowing Bret Hart, Yokozuna and the Royal Rumble match in one swoop, in what's considered the worst Wrestlemania ending ever.
