Ranking Every Second Generation Wrestler In NXT
5. Raquel González
For the first few years of her wrestling career, Raquel González was little more than bracket fodder for NXT's many tournaments. She was disposed of quickly in a 2017 battle royale to determine a no. 1 contender to the NXT Women's Championship. She competed in two Mae Young Classics, being bounced in the first round both times.
But at NXT TakeOver: Portland, González shot back to life, attacking Tegan Nox to give Dakota Kai a big win over her former tag team partner. Since, the menacing González has been acting as a heater for Kai. Her intimidating 6'0", 175-pound frame makes her perfect for the role, and the association should set her up for a run as a big, physical threat in NXT.
González's father, Texas wrestler Ricky González, did not initially support his daughter's choice to take up the wrestling trade. He spent his early days working southern territories as Desperado, but he was out of the business the day González was born. He encouraged her to finish her journalism degree at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, where she played forward. Now that she's graduated, he fully endorses her decision, and her ascent in the women's division must make the retired grappler proud.
