The future is bright for 22-year-old NXT UK wrestler Xia Brookside. And so is her past.

The former IPW UK Women’s Champion entered WWE in the Mae Young classic, getting bumped by eventual runner up Io Shirai. But much was made of her pedigree. Xia is the daughter of British wrestling legend Robbie Brookside, a globetrotting brawler who held championship gold in promotions across the world before joining NXT as a trainer in 2017.

Brookside has worked hard to prove that she belongs in NXT, regardless of who is on the payroll. After the Mae Young Classic, she was signed on as a full-time performer, sparking hot rivalries with Jinny and Jazzy Gabert. There wasn't much story to speak of, and Brookside disappeared from NXT TV for six months in 2020. But Brookside has recently returned alongside Dani Luna as a fiery babyface looking to re-assert herself. A recent victory of Nina Samuels (and a hot after-match angle) have given Brookside something to sink her teeth into, a great indicator that she's on her way to fulfilling her promise.
