Ranking Every TNA Era From Worst To Best

5. The Fox Sports Net Era

In what was a fairly big move for the company at the time, TNA was offered a one hour show on Fox Sports Net every week. They left The Asylum to move to Universal Studios where they could be in front of a new, excited crowd, and have their production values upgraded in the process.

However, Impact aired on Friday afternoons, when most kids were just getting out of school and most adults were still at work. This was also in 2004, before the days of DVR being common place, so if you wanted to watch the show, you’d have to put in a VCR tape and set it to record. The ratings reflected this issue.

The show itself was ready for new top faces, but Jeff Jarrett continued to have a firm death grip around the top storylines, as well as the Heavyweight Title. He aligned himself with Kevin Nash and Scott Hall in The Kings of Wrestling, which was basically the nWo 2000 minus Bret Hart and Scott Steiner. It was a really tired retread.

Some of the positives of that time were the introduction of their six-sided ring, and the addition of an on-screen clock with a 10 minute time limit, which gave the matches a sense of urgency. The X Division and Tag Team Divisions were better than WWE's Tag and Cruiserweight Division at the time, Monty Brown was given a nice push as a babyface and the additions of Jeff Hardy and Diamond Dallas Page could have helped the company grow...if used correctly. They were not.

Perhaps the best aspect of the Fox Sports Net run was that they got rid of their sleaziest content for their afternoon show, meaning the product was more entertaining, and far less embarrassing than before.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
