Ranking Every TNA Era From Worst To Best

6. The Asylum Era

If TNA’s two hour weekly pay-per-views somehow had only been an hour long, and only featured tag teams and the X Division, well, it would have been a pretty solid show! But each episode was filled with a ton of garbage wrestling, Crash TV booking, sleaze, bad comedy and way, way too much Jeff Jarrett. It was largely not good.

But there were some positives to be found. During this time we were introduced to America’s Most Wanted, Triple X and A.J. Styles. Raven rejuvenated his career for a bit, James Mitchell was cutting great promos and Ron "The Truth" Killings looked to be a breakout character.

But all of that was overshadowed by the giant wrestling penises called The Johnsons, Puppet The Midget Killer, Cheex, The Dupps, sexist matches and all the weird worked-shoots they continually tried to pull over on us. You know, the ones that worked so well in late WCW.

TNA's time in The Asylum will be remembered for its crudeness, the weirdness, it's awful storylines, and yet, somehow through it all, quite a few entertaining matches.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
