Ranking Every TNA Era From Worst To Best
2. The Late Spike TV Era
It’s hard to give this entry an exact date, as it’s not quite clear what it was that changed behind the scenes to cause an increase in entertainment. But for a couple of years, TNA was a pretty decent little wrestling company. A booking team of Jeff Jarrett, Dutch Mantell, Jim Cornette and Vince Russo came together to try a slightly different approach to what had been done in years past, and this time it clicked.
It wasn’t all good, as the X Division had largely pushed to the side. But the tag division was perhaps the strongest it had ever been with L.A.X., Beer Money, The Motor City Machine Guns, A.J. Styles and Christopher Daniels and Team 3D. We also witnessed the creation of The Knockouts Division, featuring an influx of really talented women who could stand toe-to-toe with Gail Kim. ODB, Daffney, The Beautiful People, Hamada, Sarita, and Awesome Kong made the show feel fresher and more exciting than ever.
One of the big storylines of the time was The Main Event Mafia, which provided some entertaining television by breathing new life into the former WWE and WCW main-eventers who had dominated the top stories.
Sting was doing his best work in the company to that point as a tweener, and Joe and Styles were briefly positioned as the leaders of the war against him. The ratings reflected those steps in the right direction, as 2007 to 2010 saw Impact receive it's highest average viewership ever.
