Madison Square Garden was said to have gone pin-drop silent when Ivan Koloff defeated Bruno Sammartino in 1971, ending his iconic 2,803-day first reign as WWE Champion.

The shock and awe had barely settled - and as well it shouldn't have - when Koloff lost to Vince McMahon's next great babyface hope Pedro Morales just 21 days later.
