Truth be told, Sasha Banks' run as NXT Women's champion came a bit too late. By the time she won the strap at TakeOver: Rival, she was already being eyed for a call-up to WWE's main roster.

Nevertheless, it was during the her six-month stint with the title that The Boss further solidified herself as a star. She had already been doing outstanding work in the ring and on the mic as a heel for many months, but now she had a belt to back up all of her trash talking.

Following her Fatal 4-Way title at TakeOver: Rival, Banks took her rightful place as NXT's lead female heel and proceeded to bring the best out of all of her opponents, including Alexa Bliss during their short-lived feud in the spring of 2015.

The Boss defended her title against Becky Lynch in a tremendous TakeOver affair at Unstoppable before beating Charlotte Flair a few more times in the summer. Her reign then culminated in epic fashion at TakeOver: Brooklyn when she and Bayley faced off in one of the greatest women's matches in company history.

That was designed to be Banks' farewell from NXT, but the bout received such a strong response that it led to an Iron Man rematch at TakeOver: Respect. The flowers she received from William Regal that night after her loss essentially summed up how much she meant to that division, specifically while champion.
