9. Triple H And Stephanie
In 2002, Stephanie and Hunter had ran their course as characters together. They were a couple years past their great work in the McMahon-Helmsley dynasty, and the company as a whole was in a stage of transition with The Rock and Steve Austin getting ready to leave their full-time roles. But perhaps a wedding between the power couple could make their love stronger than ever, and give the show a needed ratings boost.
In the storyline, the two had been married for a couple of years, but Hunter was wanting out. Stephanie knew their relationship was in trouble, so she hired an actor to play a doctor to tell her husband that she was pregnant. However, shortly before they renewed their vows he found out that was a lie, and decided to get his revenge in front of as many people as possible.
During the ceremony on Raw, Hunter went along with the act, until he called her a “no good lying b***h”, and then began destroying the decorations. He also gave her dad a Pedigree (after failing at the first attempt), and took off his wedding ring and dumped her in front of millions of fans.
Steph’s facial expressions and horror at her plan failing spectacularly were pretty great, but the build up to it all wasn’t as strong due to the characters not being quite as over as they once were.
