What some fans may not know is that it was creative genius Paul Heyman who came up with the angle, and pitched it to Torrie Wilson. She thought it sounded like fun. Al was her real father, and he was a featured performer on SmackDown for months. He was such an awful actor that it was kind of charming in a way. His courtship with Dawn was so weird that the wedding needed to be just as off-the-wall.

Dawn refused to marry Al, and it finally seemed that she came to her senses. However, she further elaborated that she wouldn’t marry him with her dress on. And so, she took it off. And that was kind of fun! But then, she insisted Al take off his clothes, and that was a lot less fun. The visual of a beautiful young woman in lingerie, and an older, out of shape dude in his tighty whities in the middle of a wrestling ring is probably one of the strangest scenes ever witnessed in WWE.

Al Wilson and Dawn Marie’s love affair was either so bad it was good, or so bad you wanted to throw your TV out the window like Tommy Wiseau in The Room.

She began making out with him, the two fell over and Al may or may not have had something going on in his undies. That was pretty much it. No one interrupted. There wasn’t even any bridesmaids or groomsmen on hand. It was basically an excuse to see Dawn in her underwear and the “comedy” of Al Wilson without pants. Vince himself probably fell over laughing while watching.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
