Ranking Every Wrestling Wedding EVER!

15. Jay Lethal And SoCal Val

You may know Jay Lethal today as one of the best wrestlers in Ring of Honor, but TNA mainly saw him as a Randy Savage impersonator, as he was stuck in the act for years. While he was pretty good in the role, it was very limiting. The company dove all-in on the gimmick when they decided to revolve an entire wedding angle based on Macho Man and Miss Elizabeth, but with Lethal and SoCal Val in their place. As good as Lethal was with his impression, he couldn’t really get anyone to care about his relationship with Val.

Most crowds are enthusiastic to watch televised weddings, but The Impact Zone wasn’t really having it at Slammiversary. TNA sure tried, by offering up American Idol finalist Ace Young, and the inclusion of groomsmen Kamala, Jake “The Snake” Roberts, Koko B. Ware and George "The Animal" Steele.

The big payoff was Lethal’s best man in Sonjay Dutt admitting he was in love with Val, and then attacking his best friend. However, he was then beaten up by all of the legends, so he didn’t get any heat out of it. Lethal was also able to stand up and shake off the attack, so he could have still got married, but Val’s bridesmaids whisked her away. They never did get tie the knot.

In theory, the idea of bringing in so many great performers should have been fun, but it ended up being a pretty chaotic and lame affair.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
