Edge Elimination Chamber

The shocking start to the blockbuster World Title Elimination Chamber match at 2009's 'No Way Out' pay-per-view made for an outstanding payoff to an earlier bombshell on the show, in which WWE Champion Edge was pinned in the first minutes of his own Chamber title defence.

Closing the event, the show played host to a run-in from 'The Ultimate Opportunist' before the match had even began. Decking Kofi Kingston, the maniacal Edge desperately locked himself in the pod designed for the Ghanaian after obliterating him with a con-chair-to on the steps.

Fortuitous in the match itself, Edge would enter the match fifth, after fellow combatants Mike Knox and Kane had already been eliminated. The shocks kept coming, as Edge was able to eliminate defending champion Cena after 'The Champ' took a Codebreaker, 619 and a Spear in quick succession.

With a guaranteed new champion, 'The Rated-R Superstar' looked elated to have pulled off such a coup, and completed his plan in an electric closing sequence with Rey Mysterio. Starting the night as WWE Champion, Edge closed it as World Heavyweight Champion, and kept himself firmly entrenched in the WrestleMania main event scene as a result.
