We’ve already touched upon the slightly underwhelming World Heavyweight Championship match at Elimination Chamber 2012, and the line-up for the corresponding WWE title effort wasn’t a great deal better.

CM Punk defended the gold against a ragtag of predominantly mid-card talent who, aside from Chris Jericho, at the time boasted a grand total of two world titles between the lot of them.

Though they made a good go of it, as a fan it was fairly difficult to believe that Punk’s title was ever in any real jeopardy, especially after Jericho had been ousted—and in convoluted fashion, at that.

Having eliminated Kofi Kingston, Jericho kindly ejected his victim from the Chamber himself. But upon returning to the structure, he was struck with a roundhouse from Punk and sent tumbling to the outside, seemingly unconscious. Some saw the spot as a novel way to continue their feud, but to others it was slightly overplayed.

All in all, this one just wasn’t quite at the level of your usual Elimination Chamber match.
