Money In The Bank Ranked

This event was heavily centred around one group - The Shield.

In the main event of the evening, each member of The Shield held the WWE Championship at one point or another. Roman Reigns entered the show as the reigning, defending champion, but he was vanquished by Seth Rollins, the man that never lost the title. Suddenly, Dean Ambrose's music hit and he came to the ring, clocking Rollins with his Money In The Bank briefcase and cashing in, winning his first WWE Championship.

Elsewhere on the card, Dana Brooke and Charlotte had an uneventful match against Becky Lynch and Natalya. Also, the matchups of Baron Corbin vs. Dolph Ziggler and Apollo Crews vs. Sheamus were mild and less captivating than the rest of the card.

That being said, the first of an outstanding trilogy of matches between AJ Styles and John Cena was excellent, with both men out to prove something on the night. Out of their three major bouts, this is arguably their worst one - however, it is not a bad match by any stretch of the imagination.

When compared to the previous editions of Money In The Bank, 2016's attempt has a striking positive in the form of the Shield-centric main event, which, when paired with the classic Styles/Cena match, creates a memorable night of wrestling and moves this show towards the top half of this ranking.
