Ranking EVERY WWE Money In The Bank Pay-Per-View
3. 2019
A year that saw the debut of NXT and SmackDown on live television, as well as the first episode of AEW, 2019 was a fantastic year for professional wrestling. Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch won their respective Royal Rumble matches, with both going on to claim their respective World Championships at WrestleMania. 'Kofi-Mania' was in full swing and WWE rolled straight out of 'Mania towards their next major show: Money In The Bank.
The event in 2019 offered up a fantastic Women's ladder match, with Ember Moon hitting an 'Eclipse' from the top of a ladder to Natalya. The match reached its climax and saw Bayley win the briefcase, holding it for barely any time at all and cashing in on Charlotte later in the night.
Becky Lynch also performed brilliantly on the night, with her two title defences coming one after another - her first, successfully against Lacey Evans - and her second, unsuccessfully, against Charlotte Flair.
Elsewhere on the card, the Cruiserweight Championship was on the line, as the 205 Live crew put on a stellar match that the WWE Universe had come to expect at this point. Roman Reigns squashed Elias in an incredibly quick match, which - given the story to that point - was the correct decision.
Both world title defences were excellent, with Kofi Kingston vs. Kevin Owens standing out, along with Seth Rollins vs. AJ Styles. These matches were crowd-pleasers and demonstrated the outstanding ability that all four of these men have.
In the main event, it looked set that the briefcase would go to someone unexpected - this wasn't wrong. Andrade hit a monstrous sunset flip powerbomb on Finn Bálor from the top of a ladder ON to another ladder underneath. Not long after that, it seemed as though Ali was poised to become the new Mr Money In The Bank, before Brock Lesnar's music hit and he stormed down to the ring and stole the briefcase away from him.
The finish of this match was one that WWE fans were reluctant to get on board with, especially as Lesnar's victory meant that other deserving superstars were kept from reaching the main event scene. Despite this, the overall match quality on the night was encouraging and the majority of the card is rewatchable a year on.
