Ranking Every WWE Money In The Bank PPV - From Worst To Best
2. 2010 - Concept Proves Its Worth As A Standalone PPV
Once upon a time, the Money in the Bank ladder match had been reserved exclusively for WrestleMania. So when the concept was then afforded its own standalone PPV in 2010, it was something of a test as to whether or not the show would catch on. Seven years on, and with Money in the Bank now a permanent fixture on the company calendar, it's fair to say the PPV must have done something right.
A couple of those somethings were the two Money in the Bank ladder bouts staged that evening, marking the first time that we'd seen multiple such matches in the space of one night. The Miz won the Raw rendition, Kane the SmackDown, but perhaps the most important moment of the evening was the latter’s cash-in on Rey Mysterio just an hour or so later in the very same show.
Having just defeated Jack Swagger to retain his World Heavyweight Championship, Mysterio was easy pickings for Kane, who emerged to hit a Chokeslam and a Tombstone Piledriver and capture the world title in just 54 seconds.
That kind of cash-in was the perfect way to illustrate the drama that the Money in the Bank concept was—and still is, as we saw just last year—capable of providing.
Oh, and as if that wasn't enough, Kofi Kingston hit a Boom Drop to Drew McIntyre, through the announce table and from the top of a ladder. Awesome.
