Alberto Del Rio is another who’s run wasn’t particularly eventful, but he did have the benefit of playing a vital supporting role in CM Punk’s epic victory at Money in the Bank 2011.

Del Rio had only just won the briefcase an hour or so earlier on that show, before Vince McMahon called him into action in an attempt to stop Punk walking out of the company with the WWE Championship. Storming to the ring, he almost comically ate a roundhouse before he could even get around to cashing in, allowing Punk to leave as champion and wrap up an awesome night.

Obviously, though, that hadn’t been Del Rio’s intention, and just four weeks later he’d get retribution by successfully cashing in on the very same man at SummerSlam. After Punk had been laid out by Kevin Nash, of all people, Del Rio exacted his plan much better second time around and picked up the pieces to win his first WWE Championship.

Two major moments from a 28-day spell make for a solid, if unspectacular, run with the Money in the Bank briefcase.
